Developing: Roy Moore Takes Serious Lead as Alabamans Reject Media Talking Points

Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore fared incredibly well in a recent CBS/YouGov poll, suggesting that a majority of Alabama Republicans aren’t buying the allegations of sexual impropriety against him.

The poll of 1,067 registered voters, conducted from Nov. 28 to Dec. 1, found 71 percent of Republican voters in the state think the allegations against Moore are false and only 17 percent think the accusers are telling the truth.

Among all likely voters, 21 percent believe the allegations against Moore are “definitely true,” and 24 percent think they are “probably true.”

The poll found that a whopping 92 percent of Republicans who don’t believe the allegations against Moore also believe Democrats are behind the allegations, and 88 percent believe the media are behind them.

It seems like the left’s credibility problem is only getting worse.

CBS reported that Moore has a 6-point lead over Democratic candidate Doug Jones — 49 percent to 43 percent among those likely to vote.

The margin of error in the polls is 3.8 percent, putting the race too close to call at this point.

Nevertheless, it seems that voters are not only rejecting Democratic talking points, but are also choosing to distance themselves from establishment Republicans.

For example, another question from the poll involved Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who has been out of favor with the conservative base for quite some time now.

The poll revealed that McConnell’s initial opposition and call for Moore to step aside did nothing but solidify Moore’s support.

A stunning 30 percent of likely voters said that McConnell’s opinion made them more likely to support Moore, with only 6 percent saying they were less likely to vote for Moore.

There shouldn’t be any doubt left that McConnell has no influence among conservative voters.

Moore was right — maybe it’s McConnell who should step down.

The responses in this poll showed that voters are not going to fall for character assassination attempts by the left and their cohorts in the mainstream media, and they’re not going to blindly fall in line with the GOP establishment.

This poll is good news for Moore, and bad news for Democrats, who apparently aren’t confident enough to believe they can win an honest election.
